A golf reservation may be made by Club golfers from countries outside Australia or by Australian Club golfers from interstate.
A letter of Introduction from the Secretary of the home golf Club will be required once your reservation has been confirmed.
Reservations may be made by prior arrangement on either the East or the West Courses depending on availability. Only one Course may be played on each day. The Composite Course is not available.
We would ask that you please find an available day and book well in advance. Once your tee time is approved, written confirmation will be sent.
The courses are not suitable for high handicap players or beginners. The maximum handicap applying for men is 26 and women 32.
Club Hire is available from the Pro Shop for AU$50 for Taylor Made OS and LT Sets.
Pull Buggies are available and are complimentary.
Caddies may be booked in advance at AU$150 (exclusive of optional tip). Caddies are allotted one round at a time and carry only one bag. Payment is in cash and is payable to the pro shop at the beginning of your round.
There are no cash withdrawal facilities at the Club.
Practice Balls are available at $5 per bucket from the Pro Shop.
A small number of Electric Carts exist at the Club. An Electric Cart may be hired if a player has a permanent physical disability and medical certification. Electric cart hire is subject to availability. Carts need to be booked in advance. There are no carts available on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
PAYMENT
Once your reservation has been confirmed, Green Fees are payable in advance.

The green fee for 18 holes is A$275.00 per person for interstate visitors.
The green fee for 18 holes is A$375.00 per person for overseas visitors.
All Green fees are payable in advance. (Prices current until 1/04/09)
CANCELLATIONS
The Club reserves the right to withhold 50% of payments in the event of Cancellation.
No refund will be provided for cancellations made within 48 hours of play.
CATERING
Visitors are welcome to enjoy the Club's facilities before and after golf.
A Snack Kitchen operates from the Main Bar from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm.
The Main Bar remains open until at least 6.00 pm and later in Summer.
Sandwich packs may be arranged prior to play to take with you on the Course.
DRESS
On the Course and in the Clubhouse:
Tailored trousers, tailored shorts with white calf length short socks.
Shirt with collar and tucked in.
Golf shoes with metal or non-metal spikes. (No metal spikes in Clubhouse)
Socks must be worn with all shoes inside the Clubhouse.
Unacceptable Dress:
Cargo shorts and cargo pants. Denim. Track Suits.
Clothing with large logos and branding. Rugby Tops. Runners.

DIRECT ROUTE
Travel south along St Kilda Road, which then becomes Brighton Road (Melway map 58), which then becomes Nepean Highway. Proceed to Westfield Southland Shopping Centre at the corner of Nepean Highway and Bay Road, Cheltenham. Turn right into Bay Road (Melway map 77 G10). Continue down Bay Road to Reserve Road (7th road down). Turn left at the traffic lights and continue along Cheltenham Road (4th road down). Turn right into Cheltenham Road and follow the boundary of the Club property until reaching the main gate on the left hand side.
SCENIC ROUTE
Travel South along St Kilda Road. Be in the right hand lane upon approaching St Kilda Junction (Melway Map 58 B8). Turn right into intersection and cross intersection, travelling another 200 metres before veering right (direction of 1.00 pm) to Barkly Street (Melway Map 58 B9) (not sharp right into Fitzroy Street). This will take you 2 km though St Kilda and Elwood. Travel to the end of Barkly Street to the lights on the corner of Glen Huntly Road. Go through the lights veering to the right then veering left onto Ormond Esplanade. Continue on to the intersection at St Kilda Street (petrol station) turn right onto St Kilda Street which later becomes Beach Road. Travel for 7 km. On the right you will pass the Sandringham Football Club and on the left The Sandringham (Tennis) Club. Upon reaching Sandringham turn left at the traffic lights into Bay Road (melway Map 76 G10) and drive East for 300 meters before veering right into Fernhill Road then left into Royal Avenue and following through 1 km to Bluff Road. Turn right into Bluff Road and follow for 1 km past Sandringham Hospital on the right before turning left into Cheltenham Road. The Royal Melbourne entrance is 1.5 km on the right.
How do I get there from the City by public transport?
At either Flinders Street or Spencer Street Stations board a Sandringham bound train and travel to the end of the line (at Sandringham). A connecting bus leaves Sandringham Station. Leave the bus at the stop nearest Cheltenham Road on Bluff Road and walk to the main gates of the Club.

There are 2 regular courses, East and West, and a Composite course which is used only for members events and tournaments.

Par for the East Course is Mens - 71, Ladies - 74.

The East Course is 6030 metres / 6598 yards.
The West Course is 6023 metres / 6589 yards.
How many holes are there?
There are two courses of eighteen holes each, an East and West course. Also there is a Championship Course (the Composite Course) made up of twelve holes of the west course and six holes of the east course. The Composite Course is currently rated No.6 in the world.
Which is the signature hole?
The signature hole for Royal Melbourne is the 5th West hole.
How old is Royal Melbourne?
The Royal Melbourne Golf Club was duly constituted at Scott's Hotel on 22nd May, 1891 with Sir James McBain as President, John Bruce as Captain and 73 foundation members.
Who designed the courses?
The very first course was laid out by Tom Finlay near the Caulfield Railway Station and was opened for play on 4th July 1891.
The West Course was designed by the renowned golf architect, Dr Alister Mackenzie during his visit to Melbourne in October 1926. Dr Mackenzie worked with Alex Russell and Head Greenkeeper Mick Morcom.
The East Course was designed by Alex Russell as architect with Mick Morcom in charge of construction and was ready for play in 1932.
